Resort Guide

Getting Around Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort on a Mobility Scooter

Everything you need to know about riding a scooter at Bay Lake Tower — 4600 North World Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830.

Bay Lake Tower Overview & the Sky Way Bridge

▾

Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort sits at 4600 North World Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830. It is a Disney Vacation Club resort that opened in 2009, located next to Magic Kingdom park and connected to Disney's Contemporary Resort by the Sky Way Bridge — a covered, elevated walkway on the 5th floor of Bay Lake Tower. The Tower has its own check-in desk, its own pool and its own lounge, but guests also have full access to everything at the Contemporary. [reference:4][reference:5]

The Tower entrance or the Sky Way Bridge is our meet-and-greet location. We meet you at the Tower entrance or walk over to the Sky Way Bridge, hand over the scooter, walk you through the controls and charging, and stay until you're comfortable — no unattended drop-offs, no guessing how to operate it.

Villas, Studios & Where to Store Your Scooter

▾

Bay Lake Tower has 428 villas and studios, ranging from Deluxe Studios to Three-Bedroom Grand Villas. Deluxe Studios sleep up to 4 and include a kitchenette. One-Bedroom Villas sleep up to 5 with a full kitchen and two full bathrooms. Two-Bedroom Villas sleep up to 9 with three bathrooms. Three-Bedroom Grand Villas sleep up to 12 with one king bed, four queen beds, and one double-size pull-down bed. [reference:6][reference:7]

All villas include cable TV, DVD players, and a patio or balcony with additional seating. The extra square footage in villas and the full kitchens make parking and charging a scooter very easy. Deluxe Studios and One-Bedroom Villas are comfortable for folding scooters; larger scooters are most comfortable in a One-Bedroom Villa or larger. [reference:8]

Accessible villas are available with roll-in showers or tubs, grab bars, and hearing-accessible features. Request one with Disney when you book. Disney asks that mobility devices not be left in hallways or walkways, so plan to store your scooter inside your villa. [reference:9]

Scooter-Friendly Pathways at Bay Lake Tower

▾

Bay Lake Tower is connected to Disney's Contemporary Resort by the Sky Way Bridge on the 5th floor, and by a ground-level pathway that connects the front of Bay Lake Tower to the front of the Contemporary. Both routes are wide and flat — easy riding for any of our scooters, including the three-wheel models. [reference:10]

From the Tower, expect a short ride to:

  • Bay Cove Pool — exclusive to Bay Lake Tower guests, with a 148-foot waterslide, zero-depth entry, whirlpool spa, and the Cove Bar
  • Top of the World Lounge — 16th-floor bar with light bites and fireworks views
  • Disney's Contemporary Resort — via Sky Way Bridge: California Grill, Chef Mickey's, Contempo Café, Steakhouse 71, and the monorail platform
  • Magic Kingdom — via the walkway (approximately 10 minutes) or the Resort Monorail

No steep hills or stairs on the main routes. The only thing to watch for is pooling water after a Florida afternoon storm — brick pavers near the pools can be slick, so slow down on turns. [reference:11][reference:12]

Monorail, Walkway & Bus Transportation With a Mobility Scooter

▾

Bay Lake Tower guests have three ways to reach Magic Kingdom: the walkway (about 10 minutes), the Resort Monorail from the Contemporary platform (3 minutes by monorail), or the boat launch from the Contemporary marina. The walkway is the most scooter-friendly option — flat, paved, and continuous from the Tower to the Magic Kingdom entrance. [reference:13][reference:14]

For Epcot, take the Resort Monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center, then transfer to the Epcot monorail. For Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, the water parks and Disney Springs, complimentary bus service is available from the Contemporary bus stop.

Disney's monorails and buses are wheelchair- and ECV-accessible, with ramps and designated securement areas. Disney's published maximum mobility device size is approximately 32 inches wide by 48 inches long — all Scooter King Orlando scooters fit within this limit. [reference:15]

Meet-and-Greet Delivery at Bay Lake Tower

▾

Scooter King Orlando uses meet-and-greet delivery only at Bay Lake Tower, 4600 North World Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830. We do not leave scooters unattended at your villa.

A member of our team meets you in person — at the Tower entrance or the Sky Way Bridge — hands over the scooter, walks you through the controls, brakes and charging, and answers any questions on the spot before you ride off. This personal handoff means you're never guessing how to operate the scooter — you're confident on it from minute one.

Your scooter is yours from check-in to checkout, so you never have to pick it up and drop it off at each park. When your stay ends, we collect it from the resort — no need to return it anywhere.

Choose from:

  • 200 lb travel scooter — lightest, two batteries, folds small
  • 300 lb folding scooter — full suspension, fits compact cars
  • 400 lb scooters in 3-wheel and 4-wheel versions
  • 500 lb bariatric scooter — 18 to 20 mile range
  • Premium scooters with sunshade, phone charger and captain's chair

Every rental on this page is 15% off. Live chat and texting are open 24/7.

Where to Charge Your Scooter & Battery Tips

▾

Charge your scooter overnight in your villa — every villa and studio has standard outlets, and the charger is small enough to tuck behind the scooter. A full overnight charge is enough for a full park day on every model.

In the parks, outlets are easy to find near shops, restaurants and restrooms. Bring the charger with you if you plan a long day — a 30-minute top-up during lunch adds hours of range. The Premium models also include a built-in mobile charging port for your phone.

Range by model:

  • 200 lb — 10 to 12 miles (two batteries, 4 to 6 hours each)
  • 300 lb — 12 to 15 miles (6 to 8 hours)
  • 400 lb — 15 to 18 miles (10 to 12 hours)
  • 500 lb bariatric — 18 to 20 miles
  • Premium — up to 12 hours / 15.5 miles

Dining, Pools & Things to Do at Bay Lake Tower

▾

Cove Bar (at Bay Cove Pool) is the Tower's own poolside bar, serving specialty cocktails, beer, wine, wraps, and salads. Top of the World Lounge on the 16th floor offers light bites and a stunning fireworks view. California Grill at the Contemporary is the award-winning signature restaurant on the 15th floor. Chef Mickey's is the classic character buffet. Contempo Café is the quick-service spot on the 4th floor of the Contemporary. [reference:16][reference:17]

Bay Cove Pool is the Tower's exclusive feature pool, with a 148-foot-long waterslide, zero-depth entry, a whirlpool spa, a children's water play area, and the Cove Bar. Guests also have access to the two pools at Disney's Contemporary Resort — the Main Pool (with a 17-foot-high, 131-foot-long waterslide) and the Bay Lake Pool (a quiet leisure pool). [reference:18]

Other things to do: the Note'able Games Arcade at the Contemporary, Movies Under the Stars, poolside activities, and the walkway to Magic Kingdom — a 10-minute scooter ride to the park entrance. [reference:19]

Frequently Asked Questions

▾

How does delivery work at Bay Lake Tower?
We use meet-and-greet delivery only — a team member meets you in person at 4600 North World Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830, at the Tower entrance or the Sky Way Bridge. We hand over the scooter, walk you through the controls and charging, and stay until you're comfortable. The scooter is yours from check-in to checkout.

Can I walk to Magic Kingdom from Bay Lake Tower on a scooter?
Yes. The walkway from Bay Lake Tower to the Magic Kingdom entrance is flat and paved, and takes about 10 minutes on a scooter. The Resort Monorail is also an option from the Contemporary platform.

Will the scooter fit on the monorail?
Yes. Disney's monorails are wheelchair- and ECV-accessible, with ramps and designated securement areas. All of our scooters fit within Disney's published size limit (about 32 by 48 inches).

Which scooter should I choose?
If you ride the monorail or walk to Magic Kingdom, the Premium Scooter with Sunshade is the easiest. Driving your own car? Take the 400 lb scooter. Small car or switching hotels? The 300 lb folds in seconds. The 200 lb is the lightest for short days, and the 500 lb bariatric model is for guests over 450 lbs.

How long does a charge last?
About 6 to 8 hours on the 300 lb, 10 to 12 hours on the 400 lb, up to 12 hours on the Premium, and an 18 to 20 mile range on the 500 lb.

Where do I keep the scooter in my villa?
Inside your villa, not in the hallway. Folding models tuck beside the bed, and you can plug the scooter in overnight so it is full for the next park day.

How do I reserve, and are there discounts?
Use any Reserve Now button on this page. Our live chat and texting are available 24/7. Every rental shown here is 15% off, and for stays longer than 7 days just ask us for a special rate.
